Dear Covid-19

Dear C-19,

That is the name I use nowadays on texts and conversations. Thank you for your presence. No, this is not the 'thank you' offered in gratitude. But in obedience towards giving thanks in ALL things.

Your prevalence is pregnant with so many lessons, so many opportunities... And because we are a people that fight change, we have fought you. But today, I want to really thank you for the lessons you have taught us - you have taught me; the strength of an independent mind, an independent life. For 2 seconds, I have understood the enigma of the lone ranger and the introvert. For 2 seconds I understand their source of energy. This season has brought with it tutoring that cannot be downplayed. Lessons so deep seated, it can never be the same again.

Truth is, you inflict. You impose. You hurt. You scare. You take. Worst of all, is that you threaten the very cords of humanity that makes us strong - unity. The bond we have in friends, family, and the community at large. So you see why we are dealing with you from a point of loathe and anger?

Thing is: This morning I woke up CONVINCED, it doesn't matter how expansive you are. It doesn't matter how pioneering you seem to be, one day - one freaking day, you will die. You will end. Matter of fact 100 years from now, the world will be told about this season, and it will seem so mysterious so dull... Generations to come will look back and wonder how we survived this, like we wonder about the story of Pharaoh and the death of the 1st borns... or like Ebola, the swine flu, or the infamous Black Death. One day, you WILL be behind us - and on that day, I WILL PRAISE.

Today, nonetheless, we stand strong. Choosing not to be flustered by the affliction of your story. We know that the middle of the story is often confounding, overwhelming, messy.. And, we ARE in the middle of a story. Today we choose to continue collecting our lessons. Hoping the world does too. Whichever lessons are there to collect, good or bad. We will use them as bridges to overcome yet other adversities. We will pro'bly write stories... But when we reach the end, which we WILL. We will mark you with a FULL STOP. With a period. With an 'enough is enough' sigh... With praise.

Till then, we soldier on.

Yours Filled with Praise Already,

Me.
