For the Love of Pancakes

A friend of mine once wrote, "First marriages are like first pancakes. There is no shame in the throwing the first away." I promise, to date am still trying to find if she got it from a quote somewhere... because who wants two marriages? or More?

Anyway, from this notion, I've ALWAYS been conscious about the first pancake... I mean the rest of pancakes can come out burnt, shapeless, thin, fat, under-cooked for all I care... but the FIRST? The first has to come out RIGHT. I've got to KNOW what type of pancake I want to make... so that I can determine the density of the mixture, the ingredients, the sequence of tasks, etc. The first pancake is so important for me! I'd rather go out and look for a rope and "skip to my lou" or "public van, public van" till the pan gets correctly hot... Than throw in a good piece of endeavor onto a griddle that's not hot enough.

From pancakes I've learned patience. Mainly because good pancakes are cooked in nominal heat. And it takes patience to perceive the consistency of the mixture and ensuring its equivalent to the type of pancake you want to cook. It also takes patience to understand the surface of your pan... some pans can't hold a thiiiin layered pancake. Others can stand the thick pancakes. It takes patience to watch it cook into perfection.

From pancakes I've learned the relevance of timeliness... When you place the mixture, when you turn it, when you remove it. Timeliness is key. Pancakes, have also shown me the beauty of diversity... I've got twelve pancake recipes and counting. While some are simple and basic; salted even. Others are a rich mixture of fruits - say raspberries and maple/ pancake syrup :P :P :P

I know, I know, women are nurturers... and we are always looking for opportunities to bless people. But there is something about pancakes that taps into my self-loving. Pancakes taps into my proverbial, Proverbs 31:10-31 attributes and nurtures it excellence

**sigh... nothing says I love you, like a well cooked pancakes meal. haha, I joke. Am in awe of every meal I make. (Am just not sure why I speak of them lately).

PS: There are a lot of theories on the first pancakes in regards to pancakes, relationships, marriages, children, education, life, etc. Don't be a victim of the first pancake theory, you are loved, you are celebrated and you are so much more than words could ever tell, okay? Okay.

Stay blessed
